Alliance High School Dynasty League Rules
Last updated: March 23, 2026 at 5:17 PM
1. OVERVIEW
The Alliance High School Dynasty League (AHSDL) is the Fantasy Sports Alliance's dynasty fantasy football experience. Twenty-four General Managers compete in a SuperFlex dynasty format built around one of the most personal and powerful themes in all of sports — the high school football journey.
Every franchise in the AHSDL represents a real high school. Every GM competes under the banner of their alma mater, the school where their love of football was born, the Friday nights that shaped who they are. That identity is not just cosmetic — it is the foundation of every roster decision, every trade, and every game played from Week 1 through the Canton Championship.
The AHSDL is a year-round commitment. Rosters carry over from season to season. Rookies develop through the Practice Squad. Franchises are built, managed, and competed with for years to come. This is not a one-season league — it is a dynasty in every sense of the word.
Competition takes place on MyFantasyLeague (MFL) in parallel with iplayfsa.com. The entry fee is $100 per team per season, collected via LeagueSafe.
Welcome to the AHSDL. The journey starts at your high school. It ends in Canton.
2. LEAGUE STRUCTURE
The AHSDL consists of 24 teams divided into two conferences of 12 teams each. Each conference contains three divisions of four teams each. The league is geographically divided by Interstate 77, running through Canton, Ohio — home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame — serving as the natural boundary between the AHSDL West Conference and the AHSDL East Conference. Every General Manager represents their high school alma mater, making each franchise a deep personal reflection. That journey ends in Canton, where the AHSDL Canton Championship is played annually at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Each conference operates as a separate competitive pool during the regular season and conference playoffs. Teams within a conference compete against one another for divisional titles, wild card positions, and ultimately the Conference Championship. The two Conference Champions will advance to compete in the Canton Championship in Week 17.
3. DRAFT
3.1 STARTUP DRAFT OVERVIEW
The AHSDL will conduct a startup draft in its inaugural season. The startup draft is a 26-round slow draft conducted on MyFantasyLeague (MFL). Each conference conducts its own separate startup draft from its own complete pool of NFL players, operating as independent deluxe leagues on MFL.
The startup draft is unique in that General Managers are not limited to drafting veteran NFL players. At any point during the draft, a GM may elect to draft a Rookie Draft Spot in place of a veteran player. Rookie Draft Spots represent a GM's position in the upcoming Rookie Draft and are designated as picks 1.01 through 4.12. See Section 3.4 for full details on Rookie Draft Spots.
Trading of startup draft picks is permitted during the startup draft. General Managers may trade future picks within the same draft to move up or down in the draft order. All trades involving draft picks during the startup draft must be agreed upon by both parties and communicated to the Commissioner via Discord before the pick is submitted on MFL.
3.2 DRAFT ORDER DETERMINATION
Draft order for each conference is determined through The Friday Night Draw, a live broadcast event conducted prior to the startup draft. The Friday Night Draw will be conducted on April 3, 2026 at 7 and 8pm ET. General Managers are not required to attend the live broadcast.
3.3 STARTUP DRAFT STRUCTURE & CLOCK
The startup draft will be conducted as a slow draft on MFL beginning on April 6, 2026. The draft will conclude once all 26 rounds are complete in both Conferences.
The draft clock is set at six hours per pick. The clock will pause nightly between 12:00am ET and 6:00am ET to accommodate all time zones and allow GMs adequate rest between selections.
The startup draft follows a Third Round Reversal (3RR) serpentine format, structured as follows:
- Round 1: Picks 1 → 12
- Round 2: Picks 12 → 1
- Round 3: Picks 12 → 1 (Reversal Point)
- Round 4: Picks 1 → 12
- Round 5: Picks 12 → 1
- Rounds 4-26 continue in standard snake format
This format is specifically designed for dynasty startup leagues to balance the value between early and late draft positions. The team selecting 12th overall will hold picks 12, 13, and 25 in the first three rounds, dramatically reducing the traditional advantage of owning the first overall selection.
3.4 ROOKIE DRAFT SPOTS
At any point during the 26-round startup draft, a General Manager may select a Rookie Draft Spot in place of a veteran NFL player. A Rookie Draft Spot counts as one of the GM's 26 draft selections and represents their position in the upcoming Rookie Draft following the NFL Draft.
Rookie Draft Spots are designated as picks 1.01 through 4.12 per conference, representing four rounds of 12 picks each for a total of 48 rookie draft positions per conference. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis — the first GM to select 1.01 claims that position, the next GM to select 1.02 claims that position, and so on through 4.12.
There is no minimum or maximum number of Rookie Draft Spots a GM may select during the startup draft. However, GMs should draft strategically — all rookies selected in the Rookie Draft will land on the Practice Squad, which holds a maximum of four players. Any rookies acquired beyond four Practice Squad spots must be elevated immediately to the active roster, requiring the GM to cut veteran players to make room. See Section 4 for full Practice Squad details.
General Managers who do not select any Rookie Draft Spots during the startup draft will not participate in the Rookie Draft and will enter their first season with a fully veteran roster.
3.5 ROOKIE DRAFT
The Rookie Draft will take place following the NFL Draft on April 27, 2026. Each conference conducts its own Rookie Draft independently.
The Rookie Draft is a four-round draft consisting of 48 total picks per conference. Draft order is determined entirely by the Rookie Draft Spots each GM selected during the startup draft. The spot a GM holds defines exactly when they pick — 1.01 selects first overall, 1.12 selects 12th overall, 2.01 selects 13th overall, and so on through 4.12, which is the 48th and final pick. There is no snake or reversal — each spot represents a fixed position in the draft order from pick 1 through pick 48.
GMs who did not select any Rookie Draft Spots during the startup draft do not participate in the Rookie Draft.
All players selected in the Rookie Draft automatically report to the GM's Practice Squad. See Section 4 for Practice Squad rules, elevation requirements, and end-of-season mandatory elevation procedures.
Rookie Draft pick trading is allowed. See Section 8 for full trade details.
4. ROSTER REQUIREMENTS
4.1 ACTIVE ROSTER
Each team may maintain a maximum of 26 active roster players. The active roster consists of all veteran players and any rookies who have been elevated from the Practice Squad. Teams may carry fewer than 26 active roster players at any time, though maintaining a full roster provides strategic advantages throughout the season. At no point may a team exceed 26 active roster spots.
4.2 INJURED RESERVE
Each team has 2 Injured Reserve (IR) slots. Only players with an official NFL designation of IR (Injured Reserve) may be placed on IR. Players designated as Out, Questionable, or Doubtful are not eligible for IR slots and must occupy active roster spots. Players on IR cannot be started in weekly lineups. Players may be moved from IR to the active roster at any time. However, players cannot be moved to IR once their NFL game has started for the current week.
4.3 PRACTICE SQUAD
Each team has 4 Practice Squad (PS) spots. The Practice Squad exists exclusively for rookie players acquired through the Rookie Draft. No veteran players may occupy a Practice Squad spot at any time.
All players selected in the Rookie Draft automatically report to the GM's Practice Squad, provided the GM has available Practice Squad spots. If a GM acquires more rookies than available Practice Squad spots, the overflow rookies must be immediately elevated to the active roster, requiring the GM to cut veteran players to make room if needed.
4.4 ROOKIE ELEVATION
At any point during the season, a GM may elect to elevate a rookie from the Practice Squad to the active roster. To do so, the GM must cut one player from their active roster to make room, if and only if their active roster has 26 players. Once elevated, a rookie occupies an active roster spot and may be started in weekly lineups. A rookie who has been elevated to the active roster may not be returned to the Practice Squad.
4.5 MANDATORY END OF SEASON ELEVATION
At the beginning of each AHSDL season, and in conjunction with the start of the NFL’s “League Year and Free Agency Signing Period” all players remaining on the Practice Squad must be elevated to the active roster before the following season begins. GMs must cut players from their active roster to make room for incoming Practice Squad players. Cut players are released and become available to other teams through the waiver wire.
Once all Practice Squad players have been elevated and rosters have been trimmed accordingly, the new Rookie Draft takes place and the cycle begins again. Incoming rookies from the new draft report to the now-vacant Practice Squad spots.
4.6 ROSTER SUMMARY
- Active Roster: 26 players
- Practice Squad: 4 players (rookies only)
- Injured Reserve: 2 players
- Total Maximum Roster: 32 players
5. STARTING LINEUP REQUIREMENTS
Each team must submit a starting lineup of 10 players each week:
- 1 Quarterback (QB)
- 1 Running Back (RB)
- 3 Wide Receivers (WR)
- 1 Tight End (TE)
- 3 Major-Flex Players (RB/WR/TE)
- 1 Super-Flex Player (QB/RB/WR/TE)
5.1 LINEUP SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Starting lineups must be submitted at least one minute before the first NFL game of the week (typically Thursday night). However, teams may make lineup changes for players whose NFL games have not yet started. Once a player's NFL game begins, that player is locked and cannot be moved in or out of the starting lineup for that week.

6.1 PASSING
- 0.04 points per passing yard (1 point per 25 yards)
- 4 points per passing touchdown

7. WAIVER WIRE
The AHSDL utilizes a Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) blind-bidding waiver system. Each owner begins the year with a $100 FAAB budget to place blind bids on available players. This budget covers both in-season and off-season waivers. This is the total FAAB budget for the entire league year. Leftover budgets carry over to the next season. Trading FAAB is also allowed.
7.1 FAAB BIDDING
To claim a player on waivers, a minimum bid of $0 may be made. The owner with the highest bid will acquire the player. If two or more owners bid an equal amount on the same player, the earliest bid submitted will acquire the player. All bids are blind — no GM can see another GM's bid before waivers process.
7.2 WAIVER PROCESSING
Waivers process weekly on Wednesday at 1:00am ET throughout the season. After each waiver claim period is complete, first-come, first-served (FCFS) players will be available for pickup. All FCFS transactions are $0 and nothing will be deducted from a team's FAAB balance.
7.3 OFF-SEASON WAIVERS
The FAAB waiver system will have a designated freeze period. Teams that are eliminated from Playoff contention following the end of the regular season, will have waiver wire abilities frozen. As AHSDL playoff teams are eliminated during the playoffs, their ability to make waiver wire moves will be frozen. After the Canton Championship, all off-season waiver wire freezes remain in effect until the conclusion of the Practice Squad elevation and roster cut window. Waivers will resume following the completion of all roster transactions on a date determined by the Commissioner. No free agent pickups may be made during this freeze period.
7.4 FAAB CARRY OVER
Unused FAAB budget carries over from season to season. There is no cap on the amount of FAAB a GM may carry into a new season. GMs who manage their budget wisely throughout the season and off-season will benefit from accumulated spending power in future years.
8. TRADES
Trading is allowed during the regular season until the trade deadline. The trade deadline will be the kickoff of Week 11 each season. Following the conclusion of the Canton Championship, trading will reopen and will continue until the next season’s trade deadline.
Rookie Draft picks can be traded, but no more than one year into the future. If you are trading a future first-round rookie draft pick, you must pay the league fee for that future season prior to the trade being processed.
Trades are subject to a two-day league review period. During this window any GM may request a veto by posting their objection and reasoning in the league Discord channel. The burden of proof lies with the GM requesting the veto — objections must include a stated reason. If a veto is requested, all non-involved GMs in the conference will vote. A minimum of 6 votes to reject will result in Commissioner review and final determination. If no veto is requested within the two-day window, or if the majority has not voted to reject, the trade processes automatically.
If a trade is completed during an active game week and the players involved are in either starting lineup or have been locked, the trade will process at the conclusion of that week's games.
8.1 COMPETITIVE INTEGRITY
All trades must be made in good faith with competitive intent. Trades that appear to involve collusion, roster dumping, or competitive manipulation may be vetoed by the Commissioner regardless of league vote results. GMs are expected to maintain competitive integrity throughout the entire season.
9. SCHEDULE & PLAYOFFS
9.1 REGULAR SEASON
The regular season spans NFL Weeks 1-14, with each team playing 14 games. Each team will play their three divisional opponents twice for a total of 6 games. Each team will play the remaining eight teams in their conference once for a total of 8 games. Combined, this creates a 14-game regular season schedule entirely within each conference.
9.2 TIEBREAKERS
If two or more teams finish the regular season with identical records at any point — including division standings, wild card positioning, and playoff seeding — tiebreakers are applied in the following order:
For DIVISIONAL ties specifically:
1. Head-to-head record
2. Division record (record against all division opponents)
3. Total points scored during the regular season
For WILD CARD and SEEDING ties:
1. Head-to-head record
2. Total points scored during the regular season
9.3 PLAYOFF QUALIFICATION
At the conclusion of the regular season, four teams from each conference advance to the playoffs for a total of eight playoff teams league-wide. Qualification is determined as follows:
- Three division winners (team with the best record in each division, with head-to-head record as the first tiebreaker and total points scored as the second)
- One wild card team (next best record in the conference regardless of division, with head-to-head record as the first tiebreaker and total points scored as the second)
9.4 PLAYOFF BRACKET
Each conference conducts its own playoff bracket independently during NFL Weeks 15-16 before the two conference champions meet in Week 17 for the league championship.
Week 15 — Quarterfinals:
Each conference plays two games simultaneously:
- Game 1: #1 seed vs #4 seed
- Game 2: #2 seed vs #3 seed
The two losing teams from each conference are eliminated from postseason competition and receive their playoff payout. Four teams are eliminated league-wide in this round.
Week 16 — Conference Championships:
The two remaining teams in each conference compete for the Conference Championship. One game is played per conference for a total of two games league-wide. The losing team from each conference is eliminated and receives their playoff payout. The two winners are crowned Conference Champions and advance to the Canton Championship.
Week 17 — The Canton Championship
The two Conference Champions meet in the league championship game. The winner is crowned the AHSDL Champion. The losing team receives their playoff payout.
10. PAYOUT STRUCTURE
The entry fee for the AHSDL is $100 per team, collected via LeagueSafe. Total prize pool is based on 24 teams at $100 per team ($2,400 total). Of this amount, $200 is allocated to MyFantasyLeague league fees and FSA service fees. The remaining $2,200 is distributed to playoff finishers as follows:
10.1 PLAYOFF PAYOUTS
Week 15 — Quarterfinal Losers:
Four teams eliminated in the Quarterfinals will each receive $110.
Total payout: $440
Week 16 — Conference Championship Losers:
Two teams eliminated in the Conference Championships will each receive $220.
Total payout: $440
Week 17 — AHSDL Runner-up:
The league championship runner-up will receive $440.
Total payout: $440
Week 17 — AHSDL Champion:
The league championship winner will receive $880.
Total payout: $880
10.2 TOTAL PAYOUTS
Eight teams will receive payouts totaling $2,200. Every team that qualifies for the playoffs is guaranteed to receive at minimum their entry fee back plus $10, ensuring that making the playoffs is always financially rewarding.
10.3 PAYOUT DISTRIBUTION
All payouts will be distributed via LeagueSafe within one week following the conclusion of the Canton Championship.
11. LEAGUE CONDUCT & MEMBER EXPECTATIONS
The Fantasy Sports Alliance is built on a foundation of competitive integrity, mutual respect, and active participation. All General Managers are expected to uphold these standards throughout the season and from year to year. Dynasty leagues require an elevated level of commitment beyond traditional redraft formats — GMs are not just managing a team for one season, they are building a franchise. That responsibility extends to how every GM conducts themselves within the league community.
11.1 DISCORD PARTICIPATION
All league communication, announcements, and updates are conducted exclusively through Discord. Every General Manager must maintain an active Discord account and remain accessible in the FSA Discord server throughout the season. Failure to maintain Discord access or respond to league communications may result in removal from the league. GMs are expected to monitor Discord regularly and respond to Commissioner inquiries, trade offers, and league announcements in a timely manner.
11.2 RESPECTFUL COMMUNICATION
All General Managers are expected to communicate respectfully with fellow league members, FSA staff, and the Commissioner. Harassment, discrimination, hate speech, personal attacks, or any behavior that creates a hostile environment will not be tolerated. Playful banter and competitive trash talk are part of fantasy football culture and are welcome, but there is a clear line between friendly competition and disrespectful conduct. Any violation of this standard may result in immediate removal from the league without warning.
11.3 COMPETITIVE INTEGRITY
All General Managers are expected to compete honestly and maintain the integrity of the league throughout the entire season and off-season. This includes:
- Setting competitive lineups each week with the intent to win
- Managing rosters actively through waiver claims, free agent pickups, and lineup adjustments
- Avoiding collusion, roster dumping, or any form of competitive manipulation
- Trading in good faith without intent to undermine league balance
- Competing with full effort regardless of playoff standing
- Actively managing your franchise during the off-season including Practice Squad decisions, mandatory elevations, and rookie draft preparation
- Tanking, intentionally losing games, or abandoning competitive roster management are violations of league integrity and may result in removal from the league.
11.4 ACTIVE ROSTER MANAGEMENT
General Managers are required to set valid starting lineups each week. Missing a lineup submission will result in a warning from the Commissioner. Repeated missed lineups — whether consecutive or across multiple weeks — will be subject to heightened scrutiny and may result in removal from the league.
Dynasty leagues demand year-round engagement. GMs are expected to remain active during the off-season, participate in mandatory roster transactions, and complete all required moves within designated deadlines. Failure to engage during critical off-season windows including Practice Squad elevation and the Rookie Draft may result in Commissioner intervention and potential removal from the league.
The Commissioner monitors both Discord activity and MyFantasyLeague login activity to assess overall engagement. Legitimate emergencies including family crisis, medical issues, military deployment, or other extenuating circumstances will be handled with flexibility and compassion on a case-by-case basis. General Managers experiencing such situations are encouraged to communicate with the Commissioner as soon as possible.
11.5 FRANCHISE ABANDONMENT
Due to the dynasty nature of this league, abandoning a franchise mid-season or during the off-season is considered a serious violation of league integrity. GMs who abandon their franchise without communicating with the Commissioner will forfeit their entry fee and all rights to league payouts. Abandoned franchises will be managed by the Commissioner until a replacement GM can be identified. Replacement GMs will inherit the franchise as currently constructed and will be responsible for all future entry fees.
11.6 REMOVAL FROM LEAGUE
The Commissioner reserves the sole authority to remove any General Manager from the league for violations of conduct expectations, competitive integrity standards, or failure to maintain active participation. Removal decisions are made in the best interest of the league and its members.
11.6.1 REFUND POLICY UPON REMOVAL:
- Removal prior to Week 1: Full refund of entry fee ($100)
- Removal during Weeks 1-4: 50% refund of entry fee ($50)
- Removal during Week 5 or later: No refund; entry fee forfeited
General Managers removed from the league forfeit all rights to league payouts regardless of their team's standing at the time of removal. Removed teams will be placed on auto-pilot for the remainder of the season with the highest projected lineup automatically set each week. Auto-pilot teams are not eligible for trades, waiver claims, or free agent pickups. If an auto-pilot team qualifies for a payout position, prize distribution will be determined by the Commissioner in the best interest of the league and announced via Discord.
11.7 ZERO TOLERANCE POLICIES
The following violations result in immediate removal from the league without warning or refund:
- Harassment, discrimination, or hate speech of any kind
- Threats or intimidation toward league members or FSA staff
- Confirmed collusion or intentional competitive manipulation
- Refusal to comply with Commissioner directives
The Fantasy Sports Alliance is a community built on decades of friendship, competition, and shared love of fantasy football. Members who cannot uphold these standards will not be permitted to participate.
12. COMMISSIONER AUTHORITY & BEST INTEREST CLAUSE
12.1 COMMISSIONER POWERS
The Commissioner holds final authority over all league operations, rule interpretations, and decisions affecting the AHSDL. This authority exists to ensure fair competition, maintain league integrity, and resolve disputes in a timely and equitable manner.
The Commissioner's powers include, but are not limited to:
- Interpreting and enforcing all league rules
- Resolving disputes between General Managers
- Reviewing and approving or vetoing trades deemed detrimental to league balance
- Removing General Managers for violations of conduct or competitive integrity standards
- Making emergency roster adjustments in cases of platform error or extraordinary circumstances
- Intervening during mandatory off-season roster transactions when deadlines are missed
- Managing abandoned franchises until replacement GMs are identified
- Modifying league operations when unforeseen situations arise
- Determining payout distributions in exceptional circumstances
12.2 BEST INTEREST OF THE LEAGUE CLAUSE
Should any circumstance, issue, or problem arise for which a remedy is not explicitly stated in these rules, the Commissioner reserves the right to take whatever actions deemed necessary in the best interest of the league. The Commissioner may consult with General Managers, FSA staff, Hall of Fame members, or other parties before making decisions, but is not required to do so.
All decisions made under the Best Interest of the League Clause will be announced via Discord with explanation provided to the league membership.
12.3 DISPUTE RESOLUTION
General Managers who disagree with a Commissioner decision or rule interpretation may request clarification via Discord. The Commissioner will provide explanation and rationale for all decisions when requested.
In cases where multiple General Managers dispute a decision, the Commissioner may open the matter for league discussion or vote. However, the Commissioner retains final authority and is not bound by league vote results. The Commissioner's final decision is binding and not subject to further appeal.
12.4 PLATFORM ERRORS & EMERGENCY ADJUSTMENTS
In the event of MyFantasyLeague platform errors, scoring corrections, or technical issues affecting league competition, the Commissioner will investigate and make corrections as needed to maintain fair competition. General Managers must report suspected errors or issues to the Commissioner via Discord as soon as they are discovered.
12.5 OFF-SEASON INTERVENTION
Due to the dynasty nature of this league, the Commissioner's authority extends beyond the regular season and playoffs. The Commissioner reserves the right to intervene during any off-season transaction window including mandatory Practice Squad elevations, roster cuts, and Rookie Draft preparation. GMs who fail to complete required off-season transactions by designated deadlines may have those transactions completed by the Commissioner on their behalf. Repeated failure to meet off-season deadlines may result in removal from the league.
12.6 RULE AMENDMENTS
These rules may be amended during the season only in cases of emergency or to address unforeseen circumstances. Any amendments will be announced via Discord with explanation and effective date clearly stated. The Commissioner will seek league input when time permits, but reserves the right to implement emergency amendments immediately when necessary to preserve league integrity.
12.7 FINAL AUTHORITY
The Commissioner's decisions are final. Participation in the AHSDL constitutes acceptance of the Commissioner's authority and agreement to abide by all decisions made in the best interest of the league.
13. THE FSA EXPERIENCE
The Fantasy Sports Alliance is committed to providing the highest quality fantasy football experience possible. To deliver professional-level content, timely communications, and comprehensive league operations, the Commissioner utilizes artificial intelligence tools to enhance efficiency and maintain consistency across all FSA functions.
AI is used to assist with specific league operations, including but not limited to: content creation for weekly storylines and analysis, formatting and editing league documentation, generating graphics and visual materials, and organizing league communications. However, all strategic decisions, rule interpretations, content direction, and league management remain under direct human oversight and control.
The use of AI does not reduce the Commissioner's workload — it enhances the quality and consistency of what FSA delivers to its members. Every piece of AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and approved by the Commissioner before publication. Every league decision is made by the Commissioner, not automated systems. AI serves as a productivity tool, similar to how fantasy platforms automate scoring calculations or how graphic design software aids in creating visual content.
The FSA has operated for 32 years on a foundation of dedication, creativity, and attention to detail. The integration of AI tools allows the Commissioner to maintain that standard while expanding the scope and quality of the fantasy experience. Members can expect the same level of care and commitment that has defined FSA since 1993, now amplified by modern technology.
This league represents something new for the Fantasy Sports Alliance — a return to dynasty football after the conclusion of the APFL era. Every rule, every mechanic, and every decision made in building this league has been designed with one goal in mind: to create the most engaging, strategic, and rewarding dynasty experience in FSA history. The Practice Squad system, the startup draft mechanic, and the two conference structure are not just rules — they are the foundation of franchises that will be built, developed, and competed with for years to come. Welcome to the next chapter of FSA dynasty football.
