If Week 5 of the WRL had a theme, it was anarchy with a scoreboard. The team fittingly named CHAOS lived up to the billing, detonating for 206 points — the second-highest total in the league this season — on their way to dismantling the Crayon Crusaders, 206–161. Rumor has it, a midweek trade may have sparked the eruption, but whatever the formula, it worked. CHAOS didn’t just win; they left the Red Dragons Region in smoldering ruins.
Over in the Cerberus Region, the fireworks continued. The top-ranked Maniax remained undefeated with a 195–149 victory over the Trolly Potters, keeping their grip on the WRL throne. But the real noise in the region came from the Monarchs, who flexed with a 198–147 win over the Tonawanda Lumbermen — just a few points shy of matching CHAOS for the league’s top performance. The Kingdom in Cerberus is clearly thriving.
In the Loch Ness Region, THE Ohio River Monsters unleashed their inner beast, rolling past Totally Turtley 194–131. Their offense showed championship-level depth, as every starter seemed to contribute to the carnage.
And in the Krakens Region, the 2023 champion Lunatics finally looked like their old selves. With a crisp 197–152 win over the Virginia Blackbeards, the 2023 champs reminded everyone that you can’t keep the asylum quiet for long.
Week 6 Preview: When Titans Collide
The WRL rolls into Week 6 with a mix of momentum and mayhem. The Game of the Week features a heavyweight showdown as the #5 THE Ohio River Monsters clash with the #6 Mantis Mayhem. Both teams have been carving through opponents, but this time, one of them walks away with a dent in their armor — the River Monsters enter as a narrow 6-point favorite.
Elsewhere across the Top 25, the #2 Music City Miracles take on the #13 Virginia Blackbeards, while the #8 Epidemic Elephants try to shake off their recent stumble against #10 CHAOS — a matchup that feels like poetic timing after Week 5’s madness.
The 2023 Champion Lunatics will battle the #18 War Birds, both looking to solidify playoff footing. Just below the top-tier spotlight, the #20 Bearcats and #21 Southern Sirens square off in what could be a sneaky good matchup between two teams fighting to stay relevant in the mid-tier mix.
And finally, down in the depths, the #24 Northern Nightmares face the #25 E-Thugs in what might be dubbed the “Get Right Bowl.” For one of them, this could be the week they finally wake up.
