Elephants Charge to No. 1 as Defending Champ Falls in Nailbiter

Week 2 of the Wizard Redraft League (WRL) delivered fireworks on both ends of the scoreboard—blowouts, nailbiters, and a new team atop the Power Rankings. The Epidemic Elephants stormed into the top spot after a 204-point explosion, while last year’s champion, Teds Lasso, fell by less than two points in the closest game of the week.

Red Dragons Region

The Red Dragons Region delivered the biggest fireworks of the week, headlined by the highest-scoring matchup across the WRL. The Epidemic Elephants exploded for 204 points, the most by any team this week, as they outpaced Olave Garden 204–155. The 359 combined points made it the highest-scoring game of Week 2. On the other end of the spectrum, the region also saw the lowest-scoring effort of the week, with the Lone Rangers putting up just 75 points in a 145–75 loss to the Brearcats.

Cerberus Region

The Cerberus Region featured one of the tightest battles of the week. The Trolly Potters eked out a narrow win over Lucky Ass Ferg, 146–141, in a five-point nailbiter. That slim margin gave the Potters an important early-season boost while dealing a tough loss to Ferg.

Loch Ness Region

In the Loch Ness Region, Wagyu found their footing after a rocky start to the year. By simply setting a lineup, Wagyu grabbed their first win of the season with a 158–130 victory over Brady Sits Down to #1. It was a turnaround performance that gets Wagyu back on track and prevents Brady Sits Down from building early-season momentum.

Krakens Region

The Krakens Region produced the closest game in the WRL this week, and it just so happened to involve the defending champion. Last year’s winner, Teds Lasso, came up short in a 162.66–160.76 heartbreaker against the Roaring Lions. The 1.9-point margin was the slimmest of Week 2, showing once again that no game in the WRL is safe until the very end.

Week 3 Preview

Divisional play returns in Week 3, setting up several key matchups to watch:

  • Cerberus Region: Two unbeatens clash as Gridiron Grinders (2-0) face Monarch (2-0). Meanwhile, Calvary and McCrakens (both 0-2) meet in search of their first win, as do the Coolidge Scorpions and Boss Hogs in the Styx Division.
  • Loch Ness Region: In the Highlands Division, the last two undefeated teams—Mantis Mayhem and Mad Scientist—square off in an early-season showdown.
  • Red Dragons Region: Both the Epidemic Elephants and Turd Ferguson (2-0) have a chance to remain unbeaten as they take on divisional foes.
  • Krakens Region: In the Keel Division, the Music City Miracles and War Birds (both 2-0) look to keep their perfect records alive against divisional competition.
