Yankees Pull Even with Rangers at the Top

The Texas Rangers no longer stand alone at the top of the APBL Power Rankings. With a decisive Week 21 win, the New York Yankees have clawed their way into a tie, both clubs now sitting at an eye-popping .952. As the regular season winds down, the chase for supremacy couldn’t be any tighter — and the margin for error has all but disappeared.

Just behind them, the Los Angeles Angels (.857) continue to hold steady in third, showing the kind of balance and firepower that makes them a nightmare postseason matchup. The Detroit Tigers (.738) also keep their grip on fourth, still firmly in the mix for a top seed on the AL side. Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs (.714) refuse to go quietly, holding in fifth despite being out of the playoff picture, proving they’re more than capable of playing spoiler.

The real shakeup came in the middle of the rankings. The Atlanta Braves (.679) leapfrogged the Cincinnati Reds (.607) into sixth, thanks to a clutch Week 21 victory that set the stage for an all-or-nothing showdown in Week 22. The Reds now face a do-or-die matchup against those same Braves — winner moves on, loser goes home.

From there, the San Francisco Giants (.488) and St. Louis Cardinals (.405) remain in eighth and ninth, while the bottom tier saw a minor shuffle. The Baltimore Orioles (.345) edged up one spot to tenth, pushing the Boston Red Sox (.321) down to eleventh. The Toronto Blue Jays (.226), Chicago White Sox (.119), and Cleveland Guardians (.095) hold steady in the final three slots.

As Week 22 looms, the Power Rankings not only spotlight who’s been dominant, but also remind us just how fine the line is between playoff glory and early elimination. The Rangers and Yankees may share the top perch today — but only one can truly finish the season on top.
