APBL Week 2 Recap

APBL Week 2 Recap

Week 2 of the APBL season brought fireworks, nail-biters, and a bit of déjà vu for the defending champs. While three teams maintained their perfect starts, others took big steps toward finding their groove—or dug themselves into deeper holes.

Game of the Week: Braves Edge Yankees in a Thriller

Atlanta continues to impress, edging the New York Yankees 284-281 in one of the tightest contests of the week. The Braves improve to 2-0 and now sit atop the National League standings. With just three points separating them, this was one of three games decided by a margin of four points or fewer.

Nail-Biters and Heartbreakers

White Sox 243 - 241 Red Sox: A true squeaker, the South Siders eked out a 2-point win in the closest contest of the week.

Braves 284 - 281 Yankees: Only 3 points separated these two playoff hopefuls.

Reds 226 - 222 Tigers: Cincinnati remained unbeaten with a clutch 4-point victory.

Biggest Blowout: Blue Jays Dominate

Toronto put on a clinic against Cleveland, dropping a league-best 285 points and cruising past the Guardians, who had the week's lowest output at just 150. The 135-point margin of victory is the largest the league has seen this season, a dramatic swing from last week’s previous high of 93.

Three Teams Start 2-0

The Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and Baltimore Orioles all remain undefeated through two weeks. Each has a winnable matchup in Week 3, meaning we could be staring at a trio of 3-0 juggernauts soon.

Trouble in the Bay

It’s been a rough start for the reigning champion San Francisco Giants, who fell to 0-2 after a 76-point loss to the surging Texas Rangers. With the Orioles up next, the Giants are in serious danger of falling to 0-3.

Week 3 is about to get underway, and with three unbeatens facing teams with .500 or lower records, the race to the top could start to separate contenders from pretenders. Will the Giants recover? Will we see our first tie? Stay tuned!
