The 2026 Wizard Redraft League officially took its next step Tuesday night as the Wheel of Fate set the selection order for all 36 General Managers, opening the door for teams to begin choosing their Dragon Region and Division for the Tri-Regional Championship season.

The first selection went to the Red Dragon Region, with the Inferno Division becoming the first division claimed in the new WRL format. From there, the board began to take shape as the opening wave of selections spread across the Red, Black, and Gold Dragon Regions. Only seven selections have been made so far, so the larger picture is still developing, but the first marks have been made on the map.

That is the beauty of this year’s format. The Wheel did not simply assign teams to a place. It created an order, and now the General Managers have choices to make. Every selection adds another layer to the competitive landscape. Every division that starts to fill creates a new question. Who is running toward competition? Who is trying to carve out space? Who is choosing the dragon, and who is choosing the battlefield?

The WRL’s 2026 structure features 36 teams split across three Dragon Regions — Gold, Red, and Black — with each region containing three divisions of four teams. The regular season will run from NFL Week 1 through Week 13, with each team playing 14 games across 13 weeks.

Tuesday night also revealed one of the biggest schedule twists of the season: Week 13 will serve as the WRL doubleheader week.

That means the final week of the regular season will not be a normal closing act. Every team will play two games at the same time using the same lineup — one matchup against an out-of-division regional opponent and one matchup against an in-division opponent. Teams will finish the week either 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2, and with playoff races likely tightening across all three regions, those two results could decide division titles, wild card spots, seeding, and postseason heartbreak.

Because Week 14 is absorbed into Week 13 for scheduling purposes, the divisional pairing originally connected to Week 14 now effectively becomes part of Week 13’s doubleheader structure. In simple terms, the 4-14 divisional pairing becomes 4-13.

There is one more wrinkle: four NFL teams will be on bye during the WRL’s doubleheader week — the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets. That means roster depth, draft decisions, waiver timing, and lineup planning could all matter even more when the season reaches its final regular-season turn.

Now the order is set. The selections are underway. The dragons are beginning to gather.

And Week 13 is already waiting.
